About This Site

This site is dedicated to providing resources and information to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender, Queer, Plus+ (LGBTQ+) Veterans and Servicemembers in the Sacramento Valley.

This is not an organizational site. At this time, there is currently not a dedicated group for LGBTQ+ Veterans in the Sacramento Valley. There was a group, Sacramento Valley Veterans (SVV), that operated from 2010 to 2016; however, after six years of service, the group, a local chapter of the American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER), deactivated. Presently, the stage is open should a group of motivated individuals decide to start another entity for the area’s LGBTQ+ Veterans and Servicemembers.

This site serves as an information and resource node for anyone needing help on issues related to the LGBTQ+ Veteran population such as benefits or guidance on where to turn for resources. Resources pages are forthcoming and will be added over time; please be patient.

In today’s uncertain social/economic/political climate, it’s more important than ever that there be a place for LGBTQ+ people especially our Veterans and Servicemembers who have served either before, during, or after the repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT) policy.

While effort will be made to ensure this is a nonpartisan page, let it be known that political engagement may occur to ensure the facts are provided in a clear, comprehensive manner. If there is political discussion, it will apply to the lives of Veterans, Servicemembers, and their Families.

Thank you for visiting.
