The VA Northern California Health Care System (#VANCHCS) announced today it is now providing COVID-19 #vaccinations to anyone who served in the military, and their #caregivers and #spouses, and some other beneficiaries under the authority granted by the SAVE LIVES Act, signed by President Joe Biden March 24, 2021.
Transgender people have served in all branches of the U.S. #military and are a rich part of #history.
Today is the International Day of #Transgender Visibility (TDOV) and is a time for nations across the world to celebrate the accomplishments of transgender people, raise #awareness of the issues transgender people face, and advocate for the transgender community.
Today is International #Transgender Day of Visibility (#TDOV) 2021!
#BrainInjuryAwarenessMonth: Brain injury is unpredictable in its consequences and can change everything about us in a matter of seconds. Whether you or your loved one has sustained a brain injury, remember, you are not alone.
America’s population is aging: by 2050, the number of people over the age of 65 will double to 83.7M (from 43.1M in 2012). And while the public perception of #lesbian, #gay, #bisexual, and #transgender (#LGBT) people is largely one of a young community, there are actually more than 2.7M LGBT adults ages 50 or older living in communities across the country. Many LGBT older adults are bisexual.
Did you know that early detection through prevention and screening is proven to dramatically reduce fatalities from colorectal cancer?
What is a bi+ (plus) person to do when they wantβ€”or needβ€”sexual health information that speaks to their experiences and needs but can’t find anything that makes sense for them?
#WomensHistoryMonth: During #WWII, many #lesbians in the armed forces rose to positions of influence. Phyllis Abry, for instance, was featured in propaganda articles because she represented the ideals of a WAAC. Unknown to the #Army, they also selected Abry's lover, Mildred, a fellow WAAC, to be featured together. Abry said she found the experience silly: "They chose us for [recruiting purposes] and here we were lovers." The irony of being lesbian and being regarded as the ideal WAAC was not lost on her.
