No appointment is necessary. Results will be emailed between 24 to 48 hours directly from StemExpress.


As of 12/11/2020, On-Demand COVID-19 Testing is No Longer Available at VA Northern California Facilities

In order to ensure there is adequate testing supplies for critical health care operations, on-demand testing has been canceled at all VA Northern California facilities.

This means that Veterans and staff who were not recently exposed to COVID-19 and are not having COVID-19 symptoms will not be eligible for on-demand testing.


Local COVID-19 Testing

Sacramento County Public Health is encouraging testing; below is information on where and when locations are open for testing. If you would like to search specifically for your area, click the button.

Drive-Through Testing Site for Sacramento County
Anyone 18 years old or older living in Sacramento County can now get testing for COVID-19 for free simply by completing the Online Screening for COVID-19 Testing. Those who complete the online screening will be scheduled for a drive-through appointment. Appointment details will be sent by email or phone. The drive-through testing location is by appointment only & does not provide medical care on-site.

Pop-Up COVID-19 Testing Sites
Sacramento County Department of Health Services has partnered with the CA National Guard & Sacramento Public Library Authority to offer pop-up testing sites every one to three days at rotating Sacramento County public library locations. No appointments are needed but testing is administered on a first come, first served bases for those 18 years old and older with valid ID and contact information.

Community COVID-19 Testing Sites
Sacramento County Department of Health Services, partnered with UC Davis Health, StemExpress & community agencies to provide free testing sites in the community for county residents.
