On this day in 1943, the U.S. Marine Corps’ Women’s Reserve was formed after months of delay following President Roosevelt’s signing of Public Law 689 on July 30, 1942. The law officially established the Women’s Reserve as a branch of the Naval Reserve for the Navy and Marine Corps. Below is a living list of upcoming Veteran-related events for the month of December 2020. Visit the links to determine if they are in-person or virtual. If the event happens to be an in-person event, please adhere to the guidelines for keeping yourself and others safe during the COVID-19 pandemic: wear a mask, practice social distancing (at least 6 ft.) & washing your hands for at least 30 seconds or use hand sanitizer. Contacting the organizer beforehand may also be helpful. Due to state of things, it is strongly suggested you attend events virtually until such time where we can all get together safely once again.

Veterans Day 2020 Goes Virtual Due to COVID-19

2020 has been a time of trial and tribulation. What started as a promising year quickly devolved as COVID-19 hit our shores and spread like wildfire. Starting in late-March, the nation took notice and in California, the state took action. Quarantine, social distancing, masks, testing, learning to fend for ourselves as businesses we relied on for things as haircuts and favorite food shut down, scaled back, or shuttered altogether.
