Update 06/15/2021 Last week, VA Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS) announced it will begin offering Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccinations to adolescents ages 12 to 17, who are caregivers of Veterans or are CHAMPVA beneficiaries under the SAVE LIVES Act, on June 10 at the Sacramento VA Medical Center and Martinez VA Outpatient Clinic. How to Navigate the VA’s Online Portal for Travel Reimbursement (BTSSS)

In late-2020, the VA went live with a new online portal for Veterans to submit claims for travel reimbursement. The Beneficiary Travel Self-Service System (BTSSS; one could probably pronounce it as “Bitsssssss…”) was reportedly implemented to simplify the claim submission process for Veterans, caregivers, and beneficiaries. With COVID-19 Vaccines in Sight, the VA Preps Plans to Distribute

Over and over since the COVID-19 pandemic fired up earlier this year, we’ve seen grim milestone after grim milestone passed with disturbing speed. With nearly 11.5 million cases and 250,000 deaths in the U.S., we’ve perhaps become numb to the statistics. In that numbness, perhaps we’ve made an unconscious decision to stop looking for a light at the end of the pandemic tunnel. With so much happening in 2020, news of something like a vaccine seemed far off. That may have changed.
